Through Example
Agnes Ann Nogal
I know what I must do:
What I wish to do,
But afraid to begin.
I place my heart into it all:
Into working for others,
But I am unknown.
I see another standing as do I:
Working behind the scenes,
But never known.
I view this twin plowing ahead:
Coming out from behind,
But I hesitate to do so.
My heart reaches and finds a kin:
Similar in a great many ways,
Yet completely different.
My twin goes beyond the limits:
Emerging from the cocoon,
Yet not completely.
My mind forces me to follow example:
To reach beyond and come forward,
Even more than my twin.
My soul grows and expands to new heights:
I become, envelope my twin,
Becoming my true self, through example.
